911, A Taste of Humanity

My Grandson Yisroel was missing.   I placed the call to 911 about 6:30 PM April 13, 2017. The gentleman was patient and asked me to identify the lost child, his location age and appearance. I told him the location at Round Hill Park but it was not on his map.  I then informed him it was  opposite the water park and he was able to get a location.

Now it starts to get interesting.  Within 5 minutes the first police officer arrived from Elizabeth, PA and took charge.  He asked us to identify Yisroel, fortunately I had just taken a picture of Yisroel an hour before which the officer was able to copy.   Within another 10 minutes two Canine Units arrived and an additional 3 to 4 police units as well.   Ten minutes more and two fire engines, a truck loaded with all terrain vehicles an ambulance and a bus/truck that was used as a support center.  A helicopter with infrared capabilities would also be available if necessary.

Two families who were very familiar with the park also offered their services and were active as well.  They stayed to the very end.  There was probably at least 24 professional officers from the surrounding communities  and Allegheny County

The Canine Units went out but they came back empty.  They did not have a good scent of Yisroel to follow.   It was getting dark now, but fortunately the fire trucks had lighting capability and were able to light up the immediate area.  We were really getting worried.  It was dark and the temperature was dropping.

Then about 8:30 PM Yisroel was found by a fireman just a couple hundred feet from us.  All was well.  The police, fire and support units gradually left and by 9 PM the park was suddenly very dark and silent.

It was amazing how all these people came together to help us.   We don't know their names but they all came together and worked as a team to find a lost child.  We thanked them but I wish we could do more.   I have sometimes despaired of Humanity but seeing how all these caring and concerned individuals came together to help us, complete strangers, was very enlightening and uplifting.

Thank You  All!!!!
