There is a lot of anger going on in the world. All of us get angry at one time or another. The question arises as to how do we deal with our anger. Do we keep it inside until it physically kills or disables us? Do we explode and attack everything and everyone within reach harming all about us? Do we logically approach the issue of anger and determine what causes the anger and how we deal with it in a positive, constructive and controlled manner?
Anger management is one solution but that only works in a somewhat controlled environment. When people get together to express their anger, it no longer is a case of dealing with anger in a constructive manner. It then becomes mob violence and must be treated as such. When people no longer observe the law, respect the law and believe that the grand jury or jury system is unfair and flawed, because the results are not what they wanted, regardless of the care and concern of the juries involved, then anarchy must prevail.
The parties involved in controlling this scenario, leaders both social and political, must take a no nonsense stance. This involves political leaders, social leaders, police and unfortunately all to often the military to take a firm hand using both force and a calming and rational rhetoric. This rhetoric should contain not only that what they (rioters) are doing is illegal but dangerous to themselves and to others as well. It should be pointed out to them that redress must come from within the law and the the results may may not be in accord with their beliefs and feelings.
If people feel that the system is wrong they can try to change it by lawful means. Know that any change must come from within each individual and group to determine what they want and their perceived notions of how they were wronged. An open mind is difficult to obtain but a closed mind is impossible to deal with.

Moodus, Connecticut
My family used to go and spend the summers in Moodus, Connecticut in the late 1940's and possibly the early 1950's if my memory serves me right. It was green and low key, just right for a city boy who loved to wander over the fields. Stone walls surrounded most of the fields as there was no place to put the stone that were strewn over the meadow except by piling them about the fields.
We spent the summer in an old beat up white house/ mansion with a large porch and wooden pillars (southern style) where we and our family rented out rooms and used a communal kitchen. I remember an old toaster that made the best toast imaginable. One had to open up the toaster and turn the slices of bread to be toasted. Mmmmm!
Milk was delivered in glass bottles, not homogenized and I think unpasteurized. The cream separated to the top leaving a thinnish and slightly blueish tinged liquid.
This particular vacation/farm was owned by Herman and Freida Frankel. I am not to sure of the last name or the correct spelling of Freida. Herman showed me how to milk a cow. Yes, milk does come from a cow and Herman milked all the cows by hand (6 or 7 cows) twice a day. He also raised chickens but he turned the chicken house into a clubhouse for the kids. It still stunk.
We also had an outhouse a short distance from the house which was quite quaint. It also stunk.
I was so enamored with that outhouse, that I used to collect postcards of different outhouses in the area.
Adjacent to the house was an arbor covered by Concord grape vines which were quite tasty by the end of the summer.
My Aunt Mimi Cohen ran a small bungalow colony next door to the Frankels called Willow Manor. Who actually owned it is left to conjecture. It wound up in the hands of an Aunt Gussie and Dave Schiffman by certain nefarious deeds or misdeeds as the case might be. In any case we spent a great deal of time there. Willow Manor had a small man made lake, one rowboat and a great many bullfrogs. I loved rowing about the lake and searching out a little cove that was there. In the middle of the lake was a wooden raft which we often swam to and relaxed on or about for hours on end.
Of course, what is a Bungalow Colony without a party house. It was a large one room affair where the ladies played canasta, mahjong and bingo. It was our clubhouse on rainy days. We played ping pong. There was also a shuffleboard court in front of the party house where we played many hours.
The men stayed in the city to work and visited on weekends. I believe that Buddy Cohen, Mimi's spouse drove them up each weekend. Buddy and Mimi had two children: Lee and Linda. Mimi was my Father's half sister, same father different mothers.
Every Friday night we would go to Willow Manor for dinner, first class. My Aunt Gussie and Aunt Mimi were first class cooks. I always looked forward to that meal. I might add that my Aunt Mimi was also the social director and bookkeeper as well.
There was an old movie theater in the town of Moodus housed in a big old white wooden building. I remember viewing Annie Get Your Gun and The Wizard of Oz on different occasions. Walking home at night was almost as much fun as the movie itself as the heavens were so full of stars I thought they would burst.
We, the kids used to play at night with our flashlights and make believe that they were ray guns. We went through batteries. The neon sign in front of Willow Manor would attract thousands of flying bugs every night which was a sight to behold.
One peculiar item that I found interesting was all the buildings in Moodus were white wood siding, which includes homes, recreational facilities, resorts and businesses. They were all very quaint.
I used to play with a town kid (Nicky) who lived next door but I didn't like going to his house because his big old gander always chased me.
To be continued.

Community
I see a problem in our nation/community, it is not just the African/American, nor the Hispanic Community, it is in every part and parcel of our nation. It is the failure to take responsibility for not only one's own actions but our peers as well. People do not take criticism lightly. Reminding someone that what they are doing is illegal, immoral, dangerous and sinful can lead to violent confrontation. This is best left to the police. Unfortunately, our police have become so demonized by the media and our nation's leaders, they are unable to properly do their jobs.
No community cannot be lead from without. It may however be guided from without To actually lead a specific community, individual membership of that community is necessary/required. Unfortunately, the true leadership which is needed, evoking tough love and compassion is lacking. Instead, the blame game is used to enhance one's leadership of the community. No community can flourish let alone survive without honest, practical, intelligent and G-d fearing leadership.
Every community is composed of individuals and the ultimate expression of each individual can be unleashed by its leaders for better or worse. Change, positive and creative, must come from within each individual, lead by honest, practical, intelligent and G-d fearing leadership and nurtured by a benevolent and thoughtful government.

Employment/Reality Check
We all have such great dreams when we were young. I am going to be an engineer, a lawyer, a doctor a mechanic, a plumber, a truck driver etc the list goes on. I am going to marry/live with someone who is beautiful or handsome but reality soon checks in. Money, innate abilities, personal relationships, culture, religion, health, employment opportunities, advancing technology, age and so many more, play a part in our employment viability.
Age!! We grow older but how does it affect our job skills and employability? We all know the apparent attributes of being young: the feeling of immortality, adventure, confidence and the intelligence that comes with the latest in knowledge and technology.
As we grow older with more responsibilities: family, social, cultural, economic and job, we become more aware of our mortality, less confident, not as adventurous and lack the time and energy to keep up with the latest in knowledge and technology.
Employers also recognize this age factor. As a result as one gets older, employers are less like to spend money on retreading an old tire when a new tire is readily available at a fraction of the cost. It is a great deal easier in the internet/information to keep up to date than it was 40 years ago but it is still easier and financially better for the average employer to hire the young, healthy and flexible employee. If you have not made it by your mid 30's and established yourself professionally, most likely you won't do so in your chosen field.
It is time to branch out and reach out to other fields of endeavor that you may be interested in. It might require some retraining and education but do not be dissuaded by anyone. You and only you know what you can do, no matter the advice that you receive, it is ultimately up to you to make that decision. Take failure in stride, as a stepping stone to success and success as a reward for your hard work and faith.

Sensitivity
Wow! My search of the internet
though not extensive was eye opening. I tried to access race as
something genetic, limited to specific physical characteristics such as
skin color, facial features etc..Being political correct is the more
important statement. Oriental is viewed as racist and the term Asian
has or should be used instead. You are right that according to today's
standards we should use Asian.
The only article that I found which answered my question, did not address the sociological issue.http://www.buzzle.com/

The Lesser of Two Evils
It's over. The elections I mean. I would like to vote for someone who is honest, intelligent, practical, wise, moral and a leader! I didn't. I voted for the lesser of two evils as I usually do. Will it ever change?
Wire Hangers and Buggy Whips
My daughter, Malka, my son Aryeh and I went through 5 drawers of assorted wires and chargers from various obsolete and long forgotten computers, cell phones and the peripheral hardware that goes with it. We threw out most if it but still had 16 extension cords in one drawer. I thought that they were breeding and told my family about it as well.
I mentioned that when I was a kid, we had a terrible problem with wire hangers which bred and became entangled in the bottom of closets in a terrible tangle.
Discussing this with some of my younger friends who did not know of the breeding habits of wire hangers, they could not comprehend the humor of the situation and immediately suggested that recycling was the answer. When they were informed that recycling wasn't invented at that time they were stunned.
The topic of fountain pens then came up. Someone said that they have one but could no longer obtain ink. Shimon said the he stopped using them because they smeared. I suggested blotters. What is a blotter?
My sister Carol, a former teacher of NYC schools had a couple of similar stories. She asked her class to bring in blotters for a science experiment. The following day, not a single student brought in a blotter. She berated them for it until one bold student raised his hand and asked, "What is a blotter?"
Another time, Carol asked a student, who had misbehaved, to call home handing him a rotary phone. 10 minutes later she came back and asked him if he had called home. He said no because he did not know how to use it.
That brings us to buggy whips. I have seen them used at various time in my life primarily by the Pennsylvania Dutch but not to much in recent times. Possibly this is because Pittsburgh doesn't have very many buggies and I don't get to Pennsylvania Dutch Country to often. There are not to many buggy whip mfgs left. There doesn't seen to be any humor in their demise although much is said about their failings and for the most part inability to make any technological transitions.
In college, I was the last class to use a slide rule. Our professors didn't like us to use them because it gave us an unfair advantage. They preferred us to use long hand and logarithmic tables. What is a slide rule? What are logarithmic tables?

Arthritis
Arthritis! How many of us have Arthritis? It seems like everyone gets it eventually. I believe that the body is very much like a machine and anything which moves requires lubrication Joints are no exception. Without continual renewal of bone and lubricant between and within joints, serious wear will occur. Call it common sense. My approach to treating the bone with calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and glucosamine. The lubricant would be hyaluronic acid, 100mg minimum twice a day. I feel pretty good and my arthritis is under control and I walk 2-3 miles almost every day. Exercise without building bone and renewing lubricant can only worsen arthritis.

Climate/Weather Change
It is fascinating to listen to all the pundits, scientists and persons of renown when it comes to the topic of Climate/Weather Change. Has anyone ever considered how wonderful and complex our home called Earth is?
No matter what happens to our planet, it is always the fault of the wealthier nations. No nation or people will take responsibility for their actions. It starts with each and every individual of every nation, no matter how small or large, wealthy or poor.
My own feeling is that climate change is caused by many factors, some known and many unknown. To blame one i e carbon dioxide for most of the change is not necessarily true. One example that comes to mind is the state of California. From 1950 to 2014, the population quadrupled from approximately 10 million to over 38 million. The water supply which has never been plentiful is running out due to drought conditions in California and much of the West.
Many homes have been built in forested areas which are prone to fire. Other homes are built on picturesque hillsides prone to fire and flooding. Homes are built overlooking the Pacific Ocean. What a wonderful view to see the sun rise and set over the Pacific. With the natural erosion of the coastline, many of these homes have an even better view when their homes slowly fall into the Pacific.
My point is that even with a sustained rainfall, the demands on the water system and environment cannot be made up as population, agriculture and industrial needs increase.
Fracking is problem here in Pennsylvania. One cannot deny the economic boon to PA and the US but, and there is a big but, the fracking chemicals that are now being used are injurious to life. Only a fool can say that they will not get into our water supply. These fracking solutions are injected into the requisite geologic strata under pressure and under that same pressure must work its way upward. I don"t believe there is such a thing as a permanent impermeable geologic strata. Other problems that may occur are earthquakes, especially as fracking occurs over an ever widening area and higher injection pressures.
Continuing on, let us take a stop over South America. Do you think that the destruction of thousands of square miles of tropical rain forest will have no effect on local and global weather conditions? Think again!
How many times have you sat in the shade of a tree sheltering you from the sun"s heat?
What about Africa? Continuous internecine warfare has decimated many countries and lowered the standard of living for all, far beyond that would be caused by the vagaries of weather/climate change.
Asia! China and India have neglected their environmental concerns for so long that it is coming to haunt them with polluted air, water and land, making life more difficult for all.
Europe has problems as well, but they are of a more political nature. Most European countries are afraid to recognize the political threats that are detrimental to their societies. Have a problem , blame Israel.
Ebola, only in the US is it being treated with political correctness. Do we stand a chance in containing Ebola? Not with a wanton disregard for any common sense for the treatment and containment of said disease.
The oceans of the world are being polluted with untold tonnage of human, industrial and agricultural waste while at the same time being stripped of all life forms that may be conducive to human needs. Will the oceans of the world be able to regenerate itself with the continued plundering of its regenerative resources?
I am suggesting that weather change is being acerbated by the indiscriminate abuse and use of the Earth's resources and the poor/improper geographical placement of people and their activities.

Chemistry and Physics
Did you ever wonder why people act the way they do? Blame the Laws of Chemistry and Physics. Every action in chemistry or physics can be traced to one law: All energy and matter tend to stabilize at the lowest possible energy level and be in in equilibrium in all situations. Undoubtedly, I am taking many liberties with all the various laws of science and physics but it is a concise summation.
People also fit into this category. All of us tend to expend the least amount of energy (input) for the maximum output. That is called leverage. You can imagine this when you use a crow bar to move a heavy weight. Sitting on a seesaw is another example. The further away from the center of the see saw that you sit, the more weight you can lift.
People also react in a similar fashion. We would rather sit on our derriere and play with our computers, i pads, i pods, smart phones etc. then do physical work or think. How often have you heard that it is my right or I am entitled to fill in the blank. We all paid our dues. We went to the best schools and became school teachers, engineers, sociologists, doctors, lawyers etc and then what. Times change and what was desirable in the job market became less so.
Engineers became obsolete in less than 10 years unless they kept up in their profession and their employer didn't consider it more economical to hire new graduates. Teachers found that their were no jobs. Consider what teacher and govt pensions and salaries are doing to most cities and states and you will see that fewer teachers and govt workers will be hired. And if our educated elite is not doing too well, consider the greater multitude of persons who are uneducated and unmotivated, but they are entitled. It is their right.
Obamacare, Obamaphones, Food stamps ( now debit cards), rent subsidies, housing subsidies, milk subsidies, subsidies to grow or not grow a particular crop, subsidies to green energy production, where will it end.?
More and more energy is required to fulfill the wants and desires of all Mankind. It has to come from somewhere. When the energy ( money or/will to produce it) dries up, what then? The system must implode. Wii people be satisfied with less? Or?
Or what? It is possible to maintain our standard of living with a bit of common sense. Is it possible to control the flow of money and securities in a more efficient manner, with a minimum of interference from both govt' and banking entities? Instead of fining corporations for misdeeds ( The stockholders must pay) hold those responsible for their outlandish behavior with criminal charges.

Hashem and I
You have asked a question that many have asked before you. Do I exist? How can My Existence be proven? Why should I intervene in human affairs?
Yes, there are angels but they were created with unlimited capacity to do My bidding. They can not help but recognize Who I Am.
Mankind was created to be like an angel but to voluntarily do my bidding.
That is the problem. If mankind was aware of my presence then it would not be voluntary.
Intelligence throughout the universe ( Intelligence has many forms and is found in eons of places in the universe) has one major flaw. All intelligence on its own, with its own abilities, resources and egos must destroy itself..
Without My relentless intervention, there would be no intelligence in the universe.
How do I do this with so many intelligences and beings? Miracles, though impressive, are temporary What is required ia a constant manipulation or tweaking on a limited scale that usually goes unnoticed except by the sensitive few. You would call it multitasking but on a grander scale.
